New IDDSI course: safer food and drinks from kitchen to care
Practical learning for care workers, cooks and kitchen assistants, with narrated lessons, illustrated testing methods and a downloadable workplace checklist.

Preparing a meal to the right texture is only part of the job. It must still be right when it reaches the person.
IDDSI: Preparing and Serving Safer Food and Drinks is now available in Pheon Academy. This 90-minute course covers separate food and drink instructions, the IDDSI Flow Test, spoon and fork tests, adult and child food-size limits, substitutions, delays and safe kitchen-to-care handovers.
Five narrated lessons include practical scenarios and knowledge checks, followed by a 20-question assessment. Learners also receive access to the original illustrated IDDSI references and an Academy-branded preparation, testing and handover checklist with a supervised-practice record.
The course awards a Level 2 Professional CPD Standards Certificate. It is included in provider training access and Individual Membership, with a digital certificate on successful completion and the option to order a printed copy.
This is practical knowledge for staff following a person's clinician-led plan. Workplace observation remains necessary before independent practice. It does not authorise prescribing food or drink levels and is not endorsed by IDDSI.
